Australia enjoys some of the best health standards in the world. To maintain these standards, most visa applicants
must meet minimum health standards before we will grant them a visa. It includes health examination and health
insurance. Here, two different health insurance are described.
Health Insurance for an Australian visas
1. OSHC – Oversea Students Health Cover
OSHC is a mandatory health insurance for all international students when they are studying in Australia. If students are in Australia on a student visa from the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovenia, Italy or New Zealand, they can also apply for Medicare instead of OSHC because their country's Reciprocal Health Care Agreements is available for them.
OSHC can be organized by the education provider or the migration agent or student-self. OSHC assists international students to meet the costs of medical and hospital care they may need while in Australia. OSHC also includes ambulance cover and limited pharmaceuticals.
OSHC insurance providers are:
1) Allianz Care Australia;
2) BUPA Australia;
3) Medibank Private, etc.
2. OVHC – Oversea Visitors Health Cover
Some Australian visas require you to provide evidence of adequate arrangements for health insurance while in Australia before we determine whether or not a visa is granted, such as OVHC for Subclass 485, Subclass 482, Subclass 407,Subclass 403 and subclass 600 for the aged applicant, so on.
While most commonly, Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC) insurance provides an appropriate level of private health insurance cover. Visa applicants are encouraged to take note of what is and is not covered under an OVHC product as not all insurance products offer a comprehensive level of cover to meet a person’s individual health care needs.
OVHC insurance providers are:
1) Allianz Care Australia;
2) BUPA Australia;
3) Medibank Private, etc.
