Subclass 188 is a temporary business innovation and investment visa issued to foreigners who plan on investing or operate a new or existing business in Australia. Subclass 888 is a permanent residency visa for those who hold a five-year provisional subclass 188 visa and looking to continue to own and manage a business or an investment activity in Australia and Australian state or territory respectively. The applicant might not be eligible for this visa (subclass 188) if she or he has had a visa cancelled or refused while you were in Australia.

188B Investor Stream
You must
Meet Basic eligibility requirements, and
- Provide proof of at least 1 of the 5 fiscal years immediately before invited, directly managed
- A qualifying business with at least 10% ownership interest by you or your partner or both
- A eligible investment of at least AUD 2.5 million owned by you or your partner or both
- Provide evidence of business and personal assets the 2 fiscal years immediately before invited to apply
- a net value of at least AUD$2.5 million
- make and hold complying significant investments of at least AUD2.5 million continuously for 5 years
1. at least AUD500,000 in venture capital and growth private equity funds;
2. at least AUD750,000 in approved managed funds*;
3. a balancing investment’ of at least AUD1.25 million in managed funds*
- Have at least 3 years' experience managing one or more qualifying businesses or eligible investments
- Have a successful record of eligible investment or qualifying business activity
- Stay and reside in Australia for up to 5 years
- Apply for a permanent visa 888 if certain criteria are met
